Disneyland Band Delivers High-Energy Entertainment from Main Street to It’s a Small World

A Marching Tradition Since 1955

The Disneyland Marching Band has been a staple of Disneyland’s Main Street USA since its opening in 1955. Leading up to Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary in 2015, Disney set out to liven up the band and reimagine the Disneyland Band guest experience. They increased the number of band members to 18 and expanded the number of performances throughout the day. Be sure to check your Times Guide.

New Sound, New Shows, Same Magic the Disneyland Band

Just before the 60th Anniversary celebration in 2015, Disneyland announced that the Disneyland Band would premiere a new sound with refreshed musical arrangements, themed performances, and high-energy choreography. The goal was to bring a brand-new level of live entertainment to park guests.

With all the 60th Anniversary festivities, that update may have slipped under the radar. It took me nearly two years to fully catch the impact—and I’m glad I finally did. On a recent trip, I spotted the Disneyland Band marching from Tomorrowland through the hub toward It’s a Small World. Naturally, I grabbed my camera and followed along, right behind the legendary Disneyland Band bass drum.

Front Row for a Musical Showcase

I was blown away by the performance. Disney truly did reimagine the band. With three themed sets during the performance, the band delivered selections from Pirates of the Caribbean, Tangled, and Star Wars. I found myself with a front-row seat, camera rolling, and It’s a Small World as the perfect backdrop.

The band turned the walkway into their stage with choreography that matched the energy of the music. Every member brought their A-game, making for one of the most impressive in-park live music moments I’ve seen.

Don’t Miss the Disneyland Band

This experience proves the Disneyland Band is more than a passing parade. With its updated arrangements, energy, and engagement, it’s a must-see performance that captures the spirit of Disney storytelling through music. Don’t miss them on your next visit—and while you’re at it, catch the Dapper Dans for a full dose of Main Street musical charm.
