It’s been 10 years since the first D23 Expo. One of the most memorable moments was the Disney Legends Ceremony, which honored Bill Farmer, the iconic voice behind Goofy and Pluto. Remarkably, Bill’s very first voiceover audition was for Goofy—a perfect match from the start!
In 2019, Bill took the stage at the D23 Expo as part of the In Conversation series on the Archives Stage. Fans gathered to hear him talk about his career, filled with laughter, fun stories, and plenty of heartwarming moments.

A Legendary Disney Career
Bill Farmer became the official voice of Goofy in 1987. Since then, he has voiced the beloved character in countless Disney projects, from A Goofy Movie to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. His unique style has brought life and charm to both Goofy and Pluto for more than 30 years.
During his talk, Bill shared how he developed Goofy’s voice, paying tribute to Pinto Colvig, the original voice actor for the character. He revealed behind-the-scenes stories from his early days at Disney and explained how his career blossomed over the years.

Connecting with Fans
One of Bill’s favorite things about his work is meeting Disney fans at events like the D23 Expo. During his session, attendees had the chance to hear personal stories about voicing Goofy and how he continues to embrace the character’s timeless appeal.
