Discovering Les Halles Boulangerie Before the World Showcase Wakes
Visit an empty France Pavilion any day of the week and you’ll stumble upon one of Epcot’s best-kept secrets: Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie. Opening at 9 a.m., this charming French bakery lets you enjoy the France Pavilion hours before the rest of World Showcase officially opens at 11.
With far less attention than the Starbucks locations in all four parks, Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie quietly debuted in 2013. The new quick-service location brought with it a menu full of authentic French offerings including fresh baguette sandwiches, soups, pastries, and baked goods. According to Disney, you can “sample delectable treats and tempting delicacies at the traditional French bakery.” And yes, that’s a direct quote.
A New Home for the French Bakery
The original Boulangerie Patisserie was long overdue for a facelift, especially when it came to queue space. Instead of a renovation, Disney constructed an entirely new building behind a retail location in the back corner of the pavilion. That original bakery space now houses L’Artisan des Glaces, home to artisanal ice cream and sorbets.
The newer location features more than just sweets. Guests can find sandwiches on croissants and baguettes, hearty quiches, lobster bisque, and even beverages like champagne, wine, and 1664 Kronenbourg beer. It’s a spot where breakfast meets indulgence.
A Peaceful Start to Your Epcot Day
One of the biggest perks of this bakery? The early opening hours. While World Showcase typically begins operating at 11 a.m., Les Halles opens its doors at 9 a.m., making it one of the few places in the showcase available during early morning hours. (Akershus in Norway also opens early for breakfast reservations.)
If you’re staying at a resort in the Epcot Resort Area, it’s a quick walk or boat ride to the International Gateway entrance. Once inside, let the Cast Member know you’re headed to the new France bakery—they’ll direct you across the bridge. France will be nearly empty, offering a perfect photo op before the crowds arrive. Just note that you can’t go past the Morocco Pavilion until 11 a.m.
As you enter the pavilion, the scent of fresh baguettes and warm croissants will lead the way. The space is calm and air-conditioned, with ample seating for a relaxing break. Bonus tip: the nearby merchandise location and Kidcot Fun Stop also open at 9 a.m., offering some extra activities for younger guests.
“Delectable treats and tempting delicacies” – That’s a quote from Disney.

Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie is the perfect place to start your day in Epcot. Whether you’re seeking a quiet place for coffee and a pastry, or a savory sandwich and sparkling wine, this hidden gem offers an authentic French experience in the heart of Walt Disney World.
