An Intergalactic Adventure Lands at Walt Disney World
Well plant me in the ground and call me Groot—because Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind officially opens May 27 at Epcot! As part of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, this family-thrill coaster is the first ever Marvel-themed attraction at the park, and it’s going to be awesome.
The attraction is housed in the brand-new Wonders of Xandar Pavilion, where guests will explore the culture and technology of the planet Xandar—home of the Nova Corps. But during your visit, things start to go wrong, and the Guardians get the call to help. That’s where we come in.

This Is an SOS from Nova Corps…
The teaser opens with an urgent message: “This is an SOS from Nova Corps… Our outpost on Earth’s Epcot is in danger!” Sounds serious, and the threat is real—everything is disappearing, and not slowly. Think: people, clouds, entire buildings vanishing backward into time.
Yep… rewinding.
Inside the cockpit of an M-Ship, Rocket, Groot, and a sleeping Star-Lord hear the call. Rocket isn’t thrilled, but he does what Rocket does best: he takes control and blasts off for Earth. “It’s save the galaxy time… again.”
The Ride Experience: What to Expect
While Disney hasn’t revealed every detail, here’s what we do know about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind:
- It’s a story coaster—a first-of-its-kind system where the ride vehicles rotate to keep you focused on the action.
- The attraction will feature multiple launch points, including one reverse launch (a Disney first).
- The queue takes you through the Xandarian Galaxarium, learning about space, Earth, and Xandar connections.
- It’s got that awesome mix of music, humor, and heart you expect from the Guardians franchise.
OK so … what exactly did we just see?
