Epcot Goes Rock – With a German Twist
The 2020 Epcot International Festival of the Arts had its share of color, creativity, and cuisine—but this year it added something totally unexpected: a German rock band making its U.S. debut.
Meet Lebendig, a four-piece band hailing straight from Germany, performing seven times daily, five days a week during the festival. With original songs and catchy German lyrics, Lebendig—which translates to “Alive”—delivered a high-energy performance that got the Germany Pavilion moving.
From Winning Awards to Walt Disney World
Lebendig has performed more than 40 concerts a year in Germany and took home the Hessian Rock and Pop Prize in 2017. But their appearance at Epcot marked not only their first performance at Walt Disney World, but also their first trip to the United States. Talk about a major debut!
On opening day of the 2020 Festival of the Arts, we were there to catch their very first set—and it didn’t disappoint. From their reaction to the Disney invite to the crowd’s enthusiasm, this was one of the festival’s most talked-about performances.
