What’s New at Star Wars Weekend 2014 – Feel the Force, Fireworks & More

Yep, I’m a Disney nerd—and a Star Wars nerd! As a Star Wars Weekend veteran (see my 2012 and 2013 posts), I was thrilled to be back at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekend 2014. While this blog might be a little late, the experience still feels like it happened yesterday!

New map every weekend!

This year, my focus was all about what’s new: the debut of the Feel the Force Premium Package, Symphony in the Sky Fireworks, and the Galactic Breakfast at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater.

The all-new Feel the Force Premium Package added VIP perks to the day, including a reserved area for the Legends of the Force Celebrity Motorcade and an exclusive fireworks dessert party. The extra cost brought a more relaxed, crowd-free experience—well worth it if you’re aiming for great views and comfort.

Galactic Breakfast at Sci-Fi Dine-In

New in 2014 was the Galactic Breakfast, hosted inside the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. This Star Wars-themed character breakfast featured visits from Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and Stormtroopers while you ate! It sold out quickly and delivered a fun, immersive experience unlike any other character meal.

Symphony in the Sky Lights Up Hollywood Studios

Capping off the night was Symphony in the Sky, an epic fireworks display set to the iconic Star Wars soundtrack. It was the perfect ending to a Force-filled day.

Magic Bands, Merch & Memories

Darth’s Mall returned to Sound Stage 1 and included the exclusive limited-edition Magic Bands—Yoda green or Darth Vader red. When used at FastPass kiosks inside Hollywood Studios, the Vader band even triggered his signature breathing sound. (Confirmed—it still worked in October 2014!)

James Arnold Taylor returned as event host, wrapping up each day’s highlights from the main stage following the celebrity motorcade. I visited during the final weekend, June 13–15, which featured guests from The Clone Wars and the upcoming Star Wars Rebels. Plus, it happened to be Father’s Day weekend, with Disney debuting fun shirts like “Galaxy’s Best Dad.”
