California, Here We Come!
That’s what you’ll hear as the Red Car Trolley News Boys roll down Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure, several times each day. They arrive in style aboard the Red Car Trolley, delivering the “late edition” with an exciting headline: Walt Disney Arrives in Hollywood!
With the Carthay Circle Theater as their backdrop, the News Boys bring 1920s energy, catchy choreography, and heartfelt storytelling to life. And yes—Mickey Mouse himself is part of the fun!
A Suitcase, a Dream, and a Few Show Tunes
The Red Car Trolley News Boys show debuted during the park’s re-dedication in 2012. It draws inspiration from the year 1923, when a young Walt Disney arrived in California with just a suitcase and a dream. That story is celebrated with the original show tune, “Suitcase and a Dream,” which is the emotional centerpiece of the performance.
The performance also features upbeat 1920s-style arrangements and storytelling that encourages guests to chase their dreams. It’s a delightful mix of vintage flair, optimism, and Disney magic—making it the perfect break from a busy park day.
Mickey Makes Headlines
Just like in the story, the show imagines Walt meeting Mickey Mouse on his journey to Hollywood. Mickey joins the performance, dancing along with the News Boys and reminding guests of the timeless magic that started with one small mouse.
Much like the Five and Dime, this street show adds heart and character to Buena Vista Street, capturing the spirit of early Hollywood and the big dreams that shaped Disney history.
