Meet the Saja: Guardians of the Ancient Path
When you first board the Halcyon, one of the crew members introduces themselves as part of The Saja. They are your lightsaber instructors. During my adventure, I met Saja Katta, a calm and thoughtful presence who invited us to discover our connection to the Force.
So, who are the Saja?
Their story begins on the planet Jedha, which was destroyed during the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The Jedi Temple was guarded by the Guardians of the Whills, including Baze Malbus and Chirrut Îmwe. The surviving Guardians were scattered after the Empire mined Jedha’s kyber crystals and unleashed the Death Star. From those survivors came the Saja, who were dedicated to preserving knowledge of the Force.
Though they are not Jedi, the Saja can sense the Force and teach others how to connect. Captain Riyola Keevan offered them sanctuary aboard the Halcyon. Now, they use one of the ship’s training pods to continue their teachings.
A Deeper Connection Through Training
Lightsaber training aboard the Galactic Starcruiser isn’t just physical. It’s a Force-connected ritual. Guests learn to anticipate the movements of a training droid, defending themselves with the guidance of the Saja. The haptics in the lightsabers, paired with dramatic lighting and immersive storytelling, turn this into a cinematic, emotional experience.
But it can go deeper.
Ask the Saja about the Jedi relics rumored to be hidden on Batuu, and you may find yourself pulled into a special mission. Will you help recover these artifacts? That’s up to you.
