A Whimsical Pixar Soundtrack Like No Other
A comedic musical troupe unlike anything else at the Disneyland Resort, The Pixarmonic Orchestra brought joyful energy, playful humor, and plenty of Pixar magic to Disney California Adventure. The group premiered in April 2018 during Pixar Fest and quickly became a fan favorite thanks to its high-energy performances of classic Pixar tunes—all reimagined with a whimsical twist.
We’re talking traditional instruments mixed with cowbells, kazoos, duck calls, sirens, and yes… even slide whistles. Add in their animated delivery and Pixar-themed antics, and you had an entertainment offering that stood out in all the right ways.
From Paradise Gardens to Pixar Pier
Originally performing in the Paradise Garden section of DCA, the troupe later moved to the Pixar Bandstand on Pixar Pier, right beneath the Pixar Pal-A-Round. The setting was perfect for this colorful, over-the-top band presented by—wait for it—TripleDent Gum (that’s right, a reference from Inside Out).
The group performed six shows daily, providing plenty of chances to catch their delightfully chaotic renditions of songs from Toy Story, The Incredibles, Up, Finding Nemo, and more. For fans of Pixar (and who isn’t?), this was pure gold.
One Last Song – September 15, 2019
Sadly, all great things must come to an end. According to a Disney spokesperson, “Seasonal changes in entertainment are part of the normal course of business…” and just like that, The Pixarmonic Orchestra took their final bow on September 15, 2019.
Luckily for me—and for all of you—I had my camera ready during D23 Expo weekend that summer. This performance quickly became one of the highlights of my visit to Pixar Pier.
