A 50th Anniversary Performance from the Heart of Epcot
The Voices of Liberty, a cappella group loved by Epcot guests for nearly four decades, delivered a moving performance of Walt Disney World’s 50th-anniversary anthem, “The Magic Is Calling,” on the anniversary date—October 1, 2021.
Traditionally found performing inside The American Adventure Rotunda, the group has adapted to outdoor venues like the American Garden Theater as part of updated safety protocols.
The Magic Is Calling: A New Disney Anthem
“The Magic Is Calling” is the official theme song of The World’s Most Magical Celebration, an 18-month event marking Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Composed by platinum-selling songwriter Alana Da Fonseca and featuring vocals by award-winning performers, the song evokes themes of wonder, imagination, and timeless memories.
On October 1, the Voices of Liberty performed the anthem for just the second time ever, creating a moment that resonated deeply with longtime Disney fans in attendance at Epcot that day.
Celebrating Two Epcot Milestones
Not only did this performance celebrate Walt Disney World’s golden anniversary, but it also marked EPCOT’s 39th birthday. Since debuting on October 1, 1982, EPCOT has served as a park of possibility and innovation—and the Voices of Liberty have been there since day one.
Their 50th-themed performance is a tribute to EPCOT’s past and a harmonic call to its future, aligned perfectly with the park’s ongoing transformation.
