Walt Disney’s 4th Anniversary Special 1957

The Disneyland 4th anniversary show is the first episode of the fourth season of Walt Disney’s Disneyland, the anthology television series. The special was released on September 11, 1957, as the fourth-anniversary show.  Always the promoter in the first half of the show, Walt recalls the journey of a piano in the studio and how Sergei Prokofieff’s composition “Peter and the Wolf” was played on that same piano years earlier.   Walt recalls convincing Sergei to allow him to make a cartoon short based on this piece.  The 1946 animation classic “Peter and the Wolf” is NOT included in this video.

The second half of the show features the Mouseketeers from “The Mickey Mouse Club” interrupting Walt while he is recording this television show.  They convince Walt to join them on the set of the Mickey Mouse Club, where they surprise him with a 4th Anniversary celebration.   They ask Walt all about his plans for future shows, and after a song and dance, get a special preview of the upcoming Studio Productions.  Including the never-made live-action film “Rainbow Road to Oz” based on the Wizzard of Oz.
