With little fanfare, September 3, 2012, marked the last performance of The Magic, The Memories, and You. The show originally premiered on January 18, 2011, as part of Disney’s “Let the Memories Begin” marketing campaign, transforming Cinderella’s Castle into a canvas of light and magic.

The Magic, The Memories, and You – Final Farewell
This nightly projection show transformed Cinderella Castle into a digital masterpiece using photos and videos taken by Disney PhotoPassphotographers. In addition, Imagineers created a detailed digital map of the entire castle, ensuring every inch could be precisely covered by high-tech projectors. From an “It’s a Small World” overlay to seasonal holiday transformations, Cinderella Castle could become anything Imagineering dreamed up.
Seasonal Additions and Special Moments
Throughout its short run, The Magic, The Memories, and You evolved with seasonal themes and special additions. For example, the Valentine’s Day edition featured Tangled, Cinderella, Snow White, and Lady and the Tramp. During the summer, Goofy, Timon, Pumbaa, and Ariel joined the fun with beach-themed adventures and Under the Sea surprises. In addition, Phineas and Ferb made their own splash with fans!
The technology allowed Disney to promote new films and shows, making the experience fresh for repeat visitors.
What’s Next? Celebrate the Magic
Although The Magic, The Memories, and You has ended, its groundbreaking technology paved the way for “Celebrate the Magic”, which expanded the use of projection mapping. This new show promised even more spectacular transformations and magical storytelling on Cinderella Castle’s grand façade.
The legacy of The Magic, The Memories, and You lives on through future projection shows at Disney Parks. Stay tuned to see how Disney continues to innovate and bring the magic to life!
