Max Out Your Score and Claim Galactic Hero Status
You too can be a Galactic Hero, scoring the maximum 999,999 on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Don’t tell anyone—it’s our little secret!
Since its debut in November 1998, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin has combined video game thrills with Disney dark ride charm. Buzz was the original shooter game in Disney Parks, paving the way for Toy Story Midway Mania and countless other interactive experiences. But to master it? That takes strategy.
Where to Find the Big Points
Want the high score? You need to know where to look. The first 100,000-point target is in the very first room. Keep your eyes peeled for the Boxobot. The high-value target? The inside of his left hand. Aim carefully, and you can hit this one up to 8 times if you’re quick—giving you 800,000 points right off the bat.
The second secret 100,000-point target is in the third room, located on the bottom of Zurg’s ship. It’s trickier to hit, but with the right vehicle positioning, you can hit it before and after you pass it.
Between these two, you’re well on your way to Galactic Hero.
Pro Tips for a Perfect Score
- Sit on the left side of the ride vehicle. That gives you a better angle on the Boxobot’s hand.
- Control the spinner early in the ride to line up your shots.
- Watch for the volcano in the second room—there’s a 50,000-point target at the top.
- Practice makes perfect. Each ride gives you a better sense of target timing and spinner control.
Don’t Forget to Celebrate!
If you do hit the magic 999,999 score, don’t forget to stop by the photo area at the exit. Ask a Cast Member for a Galactic Hero sticker to wear with pride—and maybe show off a bit to the rest of your party.
Ready to become a Galactic Hero? Grab your laser cannon, aim for those high-value targets, and remember—positioning is everything.
