A Flash of Fun at Hollywood Studios
On December 4, 2015, Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios launched Club Disney, a kid-friendly character dance party located inside the brand-new Sunset Showcase building. This multi-purpose event space sits backstage between Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, where a cast member parking lot once stood.

According to Disney’s official site at the time:
“Get down and get animated! Join Mickey on the floor of this ‘electric’ dance club while a DJ spins your favorite Radio Disney hits—and the walls spin too, with classic Disney animation!”
Club Disney also featured a relaxing seating area and snack stations, perfect for cooling off and recharging both your devices and your energy. Kids could dance with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto, while parents caught a break from the heat. It was one of the rare times you could enjoy all four characters together on the dance floor.

A Short-Lived Celebration
Despite its promise, Club Disney had a brief run. It closed just two months later on February 6, 2016. The building, Sunset Showcase, lived up to its “multi-purpose” name by quickly hosting a new offering: Club Villain.

Club Villain debuted on January 16, 2016, offering a premium experience hosted by Dr. Facilier, who invited guests into his mystical parlor for music, dancing, and meet-and-greets with Disney villains like Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, Queen of Hearts, and the Evil Queen. Themed drinks, a Potions Bar, and New Orleans-inspired cuisine gave the event an upscale flair—along with a $99 price tag.
What’s Next for Sunset Showcase?
Though Club Disney disappeared quickly, the Sunset Showcase building remains a valuable space at Hollywood Studios. Its flexible design makes it ideal for seasonal events, premium parties, and even temporary entertainment as the park continues to evolve.

Club Disney Was Short But Sweet
While it lasted, Club Disney offered a unique, immersive space where families could take a break, recharge, and dance with Disney’s most iconic characters. And though its time was short, it paved the way for bigger, bolder events like Club Villain.
