A Journey to Another World Begins at Animal Kingdom
A new adventure awaits at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. You’ll encounter floating mountains, glowing rivers, and winged creatures you can fly—all in a land that isn’t from this world.
Welcome to the Valley of Mo’ara – Notice PCI and ACE – you will find them through the valley
As you make your way through the Oasis past the Tree of Life, a small path to the left beckons. While it leads toward Tiffins and the Nomad Lounge, follow it a bit farther and you’ll cross a bridge—into another time, another place: the Valley of Mo’ara, home to Pandora – The World of Avatar.
Even in the daylight, the trees and vegetation are from another world – almost glowing
The Valley of Mo’ara: Welcome to Pandora
You are now in Pandora, a surreal, immersive environment completely separate from the rest of Animal Kingdom. ACE (Alpha Centauri Expeditions) and PCI (Pandora Conservation Initiative) set the scene—references to their missions are scattered throughout, giving context to your visit. The land feels like a national park of another planet.
Even more interesting plant and animal life along the queue for The Na’vi River Journey
Even in broad daylight, the plants glow. The strange creatures, alien flora, and floating peaks all feel alive and real.
Never Seen Avatar? Doesn’t Matter
I hadn’t seen the 2009 film before visiting, and purposely avoided it. Still, I found myself awestruck—wondering about the animals, the glowing plant life, and the floating landscapes. Experiencing Pandora made me want to dive into the world of Avatar, sequels and all.
As Imagineer Tim Warzecha noted, Pandora isn’t a prequel or sequel to the film—it’s a standalone immersive experience.
The Rides: Na’vi River Journey & Flight of Passage
Na’vi River Journey: Climb aboard a reed boat and float through a bioluminescent rainforest in search of the Na’vi Shaman of Songs. Disney’s most advanced AA figure to date, the Shaman is jaw-dropping in realism.
The Bioluminescent rainforest grows even more interesting as we journey deeper into the Na’vi River.
Flight of Passage: Ride on the back of a banshee in a thrilling 3D flight simulation. The queue, which winds through caves, research labs, and bio-luminescent forests, is its own attraction. The preshow sets the story: flying a banshee is a rite of passage for the Na’vi, and now for you too.
Matching us to an Avatar in the pre-show
Fun fact: both rides are housed in the same building—Na’vi River Journey on the ground floor and Flight of Passage above it.
Merch, Food, and Banshees
Windtraders is where your Flight of Passage journey ends. Here, you can create a Na’vi version of yourself or adopt your own shoulder-sitting banshee.

Colors of Mo’ara offers face painting and tribal gear. Hungry? Grab a glowing drink at Pongu Pongu, or enjoy a full meal at Satu’li Canteen, featuring grilled meats, tofu, and Na’vi-inspired steamed pods.
A World Apart—And a Glimpse of the Future
Pandora is unlike anything else at Walt Disney World. It’s richly themed, full of secrets, and meant to be explored slowly. The Wilderness Explorers even have a new badge for Pandora!
All I could think as I stood there was: If this is what Disney Imagineering can do with Avatar, I can’t wait for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
