A Jazzy Jalopy on Hollywood Blvd
What’s that rolling down Hollywood Blvd toward Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure? It’s not just any old jalopy—it’s the mobile stage for Five and Dime, a lively jazz band that has become a fan favorite since debuting with the park’s re-dedication in 2012.

Featuring five jazz musicians and one powerhouse vocalist known as Dime, this high-energy group brings the swing and style of the 1920s and 30s to life. The show runs about 15 minutes and happens several times a day, setting a vibrant tone for guests entering Buena Vista Street.
From Chicago to Carthay
According to the story, the Five fellas and Dime left Chicago behind to follow their dreams in Hollywood. They sold everything they owned, packed up their instruments, and hit the road in search of fame—eventually landing at Disney California Adventure to charm visitors with their soulful sound.

Songs like “I Got Rhythm” and “Ain’t We Got Fun” fill the street with toe-tapping energy. And when Goofy happens to pass by, you never know—he just might join in on the fun!
A Nostalgic Nod to Walt Disney
The Five and Dime act fits perfectly into the park’s 1920s setting, echoing the era when Walt Disney himself arrived in Hollywood. According to the show’s lore, the band even met Walt—another Midwestern dreamer—on their journey west.

Whether you’re pausing for a snack or just entering the park, Five and Dime sets the mood for a magical day filled with music, laughter, and a little Disney history
