Produced by Tampa’s WTVT-TV in 1989, now FOX 13 Tampa, “The Disney MGM Studios Theme Park: The Dream Comes True” is a follow up to “The Making of… The Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park”, leveraging some of the same footage. Hooray for Disney World… Our movies are magic. Our cameras are rolling. The stars, they’re gonna be here… and any man or child can take the stage, it doesn’t matter what your age. Hooray for Disney World and Disney MGM Studios. Those are the lyrics, at least some of them for the special behind-the-scenes look at the newly opened Disney MGM Studios: The Dream Comes True.
The special starts with Michael Eisner dedicating the park: “We welcome you at a Hollywood that never was, and always will be”. This behind-the-scenes look at the Magic of Special Effects, Disney’s newest cast of characters, and a ride that goes beyond any that Disney has done yet, a ride that takes you into the middle of the movies. According to Disney Ambassador Kathleen Sullivan, the “spectacular movie playground celebrated its opening just last week”.
The 60 minutes special features interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from all over the park, starting with the history of the park and studio tour, and some details behind the Great Movie Ride, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, and Super Star Television.
Though not produced by Disney, this special is a great way of looking behind the scenes and a perfect sequel to The Making of The Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park.
