The special follows a lighthearted storyline where Newman goes undercover to find out what this new “Hollywood in Florida” is all about. While the skits and gags may feel a bit corny today, the real highlight is the exclusive footage of the park’s construction and candid interviews with Imagineers and cast members.

From Dirt Lots to Iconic Landmarks

Viewers are treated to scenes from April 1987, including shots of a nearly empty space that would soon become Echo Lake. We see the installation of the Chinese Theater’s top spire, and get a glimpse at the Crossroads of America, inspired by Hollywood’s unique architectural history—complete with the whimsical flair of California design.
