A Living Galaxy—With Your Story at the Center
One of the most immersive elements of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is how guests aren’t just spectators. They’re part of the story. That’s thanks in large part to the work of Cory Rouse, Creative Director for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Cory played a key role in bringing interactivity and roleplay to life through character development and digital integration.
We had a chance to speak with Cory about the Play Disney Parks app, which transforms your smartphone into a galactic datapad. Guests can use the app to create a persona, complete in-world missions, translate alien languages, hack into droids and ships, and most importantly—build a reputation that evolves during your visit.
“You’re not just visiting Batuu,” Rouse explains, “you’re living your own Star Wars adventure—and that includes choices that can affect how characters and cast members interact with you.”
Deeper Immersion with Rise of the Resistance
Cory also shared how the launch of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance expanded this experience. The app’s role doesn’t stop at games—it integrates directly into the attraction, letting your choices carry weight as your visit progresses.
Whether you’re aligning with the Resistance or siding with the First Order, how you interact with the land shapes your story, all powered through the Play Disney Parks app and Cory’s creative vision.
