Hungry travelers passing through Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu don’t have to go far for a bite to eat. Just head toward the hangar and look for Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, home of the traveling culinary creation known as Tuggs’ Grub.
During the media event for the opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, I had the chance to speak with Chef Gina, part of the team behind Docking Bay 7. She gave us a behind-the-scenes look at the culinary storytelling that fuels Batuu’s most adventurous menu.
“The food tells the story of Batuu,” Chef Gina explained. “Chef Strono ‘Cookie’ Tuggs has traveled the galaxy, collecting ingredients and recipes from all over. That’s why the dishes here are so unique.”
What’s on the Menu at Tuggs’ Grub?
Chef Tuggs, a character with roots in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has turned a transport hangar into a bustling kitchen. Thanks to his galactic travels, you’ll find flavorful dishes from all corners of the galaxy:
- Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs – tender, smoky pork ribs served with a tangy blueberry corn muffin and cabbage slaw
- Endorian Fried Chicken Tip-Yip – crispy chicken with roasted vegetable mash and herb gravy
- Batuu-Bon – a decadent chocolate dessert with coffee mousse and white chocolate
Chef Gina mentioned that the menu strikes a balance between being adventurous and accessible. “We wanted food that feels alien but still familiar,” she said. “The presentation and names are out-of-this-world, but the flavors are grounded.”
Bringing the Star Wars Galaxy to the Table
What sets Docking Bay 7 apart is the attention to detail. From the themed seating to the plated presentation, everything in Tuggs’ Grub is part of the storytelling.
“Every dish has a backstory,” said Chef Gina. “When you taste something here, you’re not just eating. You’re immersing yourself in the story of Batuu.”
