The 2006 Top 7 Must-See at Walt Disney World with Stacie

2006 Disney Top 7 Must-See with Stacie

The evolution of Walt Disney World’s in-room TV hit a major milestone in 2006. The “Top 7 Must-See” countdown was refreshed with new energy and a new host — Stacie — just in time for The Happiest Celebration on Earth. This global celebration honored 50 years of Disney Theme Park magic, and Walt Disney World brought in new attractions from around the world to celebrate.

In this countdown, Stacie highlights the biggest thrills, newest rides, and must-do entertainment offerings — giving resort guests a snapshot of all the magic happening that year.

#7 – Downtown Disney and La Nouba

The countdown kicks off at Downtown Disney, now known as Disney Springs. Stacie heads to the West Side to spotlight Cirque Du Soleil’s La Nouba, a mesmerizing show filled with acrobatics, storytelling, and Disney-style artistry. This show remained a must-see for years and helped make the West Side a destination in itself.

#6 – Kilimanjaro Safaris

Next, we journey to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for a wild ride on the Kilimanjaro Safaris. This classic experience gives guests a chance to see giraffes, elephants, lions, and more in a breathtaking African savanna setting.

#5 – Crush ’n’ Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon

For our #5 pick, it’s all about Disney’s Water Parks. Stacie visits both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, but she spotlights Crush ‘n’ Gusher, the thrilling water coaster located at Typhoon Lagoon. With multiple slide paths and jet-propelled lift hills, this ride was a fresh addition to the water park scene in 2006.

#4 – The Triple Mountain Whammy

What would a Walt Disney World visit be without Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain? The #4 must-see takes us to Magic Kingdom for the “Triple Mountain Whammy,” showcasing the iconic coaster trio that continues to thrill guests to this day.

#3 – Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show

This year’s newest entry at Disney-MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios) takes the #3 spot. Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show brought action-packed car chases, explosions, and behind-the-scenes movie magic to the park, all inspired by Disneyland Paris.

#2 – Soarin’ and Mission: SPACE at Epcot

At Epcot, the countdown hits double with a two-for-one. First, the all-new Soarin’, imported from Disney California Adventure, lets guests glide over California landscapes. Then, it’s time to blast off on Mission: SPACE, where guests choose between the intense orange team or milder green team for a simulated space mission.

#1 – Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Stacie’s #1 Must-See for 2006 is the brand-new Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom. The towering coaster takes riders through the Himalayas on a quest that ends with a face-to-face encounter with the mysterious Yeti. This was Disney’s biggest coaster investment at the time, and it still dominates the park’s skyline.
