The Walt Disney Christmas Show 1951 – A Classic Holiday Broadcast

Originally broadcast on Christmas Day, 1951, The Walt Disney Christmas Show stands as one of the earliest and most festive television specials from Walt Disney. The hour-long show aired as a follow-up to the successful 1950 special One Hour in Wonderland and featured Walt Disney himself as host.

The holiday special had two major goals: to celebrate the season with families watching at home and to promote upcoming Disney projects. The animated feature film Peter Pan was prominently highlighted with special appearances by Bobby Driscoll as Peter Pan and Kathryn Beaumont as Wendy Darling. Walt also previewed a reissue of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, reinforcing its place as Disney’s first animated classic.

The special wasn’t just festive—it was promotional. It cleverly blended classic Disney shorts, musical performances, and sneak peeks at upcoming attractions. While much of the content made it into the original broadcast, several segments are not included in this video.
