Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser – Everything We Know So Far
We heard about the Star Wars hotel during the 2017 D23 Expo and again at the 2019 Expo. But by then, it had evolved into something far more exciting—Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser, a fully immersive two-day, two-night Star Wars adventure. Not a hotel. Not just theming. A live-in experience. It is a galactic voyage where you become the hero of your own Star Wars story.
The Starcruiser has recently appeared on Walt Disney World maps and the My Disney Experience app. Now that it’s becoming a reality let’s explore everything we know so far.
Where the Starcruiser Fits on the Star Wars Timeline
To understand the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience, it’s important to know where it lands in the Star Wars timeline. The story takes place between Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, in the year 35 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin). That’s right after the events of The Black Spire novel, where Vi Moradi, Leia Organa’s top spy, arrives on Batuu to set up a resistance base.
While Vi avoids Kylo Ren and the 709th Legion, guests at Galaxy’s Edge live in the heart of that tension. That’s also where your Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser story begins.
That’s No Hotel – That’s a Starcruiser
From the moment you board the Halcyon Starcruiser, you become part of the Star Wars saga. This isn’t a typical Walt Disney World resort. Think of it as a cruise in space. You check in for a two-night voyage, and just like Disney Cruise Line, your entire stay is part of a seamless story. No pool, no Magic Kingdom buses. You don’t leave the ship. You live in the Star Wars universe.
The Halcyon Starcruiser: Immersion Through Storyliving
Disney calls it “Storyliving.” You and your fellow passengers board the glamorous Halcyon experience Star Wars destinations, dine at galactic restaurants, and even train in lightsaber combat. Every interaction matters. Your choices influence the adventure, including how you engage with characters, crew, and other guests. Want to join the resistance? Or maybe assist the First Order? It’s your story.
Launching Into Hyperspace
When you arrive at the Galactic Starcruiser terminal, you’ll check in and board a Launch Pod. You’ll see the stars rush by through the windows as you jump to hyperspace and arrive at the Halcyon. The pod docks and the airlock open to reveal the ship’s main atrium—the starting point of your journey.
There, you’ll meet the Captain, Cruise Director, Mechanic, and other members of the Resistance. You may even encounter Kylo Ren or Rey. Each cast member plays a role in the story that unfolds around you.
Lightsaber Training, Bridge Ops & More
Every guest will train with a real retractable lightsaber—a first-of-its-kind experience. You’ll face off against a training droid with help from the Saber Trainer. You can visit the Bridge to learn navigation and defense. Explore the Engineering Room, or uncover hidden spaces and secret missions. There’s a Galactic Superstar performance planned, and even a few surprises are hinted at in the concept art.
Dining Aboard the Halcyon
Meals take place in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. Each day starts with breakfast and lunch, while dinner becomes a multi-course supper club experience. One night includes live entertainment from the aforementioned Galactic Superstar, a Twi’lek performer caught between fame and rebellion.
An Excursion to Batuu
Every voyage includes an excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu. You’ll board a specially themed shuttle (with no real-world windows) to continue your story on the ground. What you do in Batuu may impact how your story unfolds on the Halcyon.
There Are No Windows to Earth
Every cabin, hallway, and space aboard the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser maintains the illusion. There are no windows to Florida. Every viewport shows stars, planets, or ship traffic. You’re not in a hotel—you’re in space. Even the cabins resemble cruise ship rooms, not typical resort suites.
Every space—from the Dojo to the Engine Room, from the Courtyard to the Atrium—serves a purpose in your personal Star Wars saga.
Ready to Live Your Star Wars Story?
This isn’t just a themed hotel. It’s not even a traditional Disney vacation. It’s an interactive, story-driven experience designed to make you the center of your Star Wars journey. If you’ve ever wanted to live the life of a Jedi, a smuggler, or a resistance spy—this is your chance.
I’ll say it again: This is a Star Wars cruise, not a resort. And for Star Wars fans, that’s exactly what makes it one of the most exciting and immersive experiences Disney has ever created.
Thanks for reading—and may the Force be with you!
