The Walt Disney World Archive Room was one of the hidden gems of the 50th Anniversary media event—and I had to see it for myself. When I spotted the directional sign reading “Walt Disney Archives,” I knew I was about to enter a space filled with history, storytelling, and classic Disney nostalgia. The exhibit was a curated celebration of the past 50 years of Walt Disney World Resort, brought to life by the Walt Disney Archives team.

A Tour with Becky Cline

Becky Cline, the director of the Walt Disney Archives, was at the center of this special 50th Anniversary exhibit. Becky has spent years documenting and preserving the company’s legacy and was happy to share a selection of pieces from the Walt Disney World Archive collection.

Inside the exhibit, Becky walked us through key items from Walt Disney World’s past 50 years. The collection spanned everything from vintage attraction posters and cast member costumes to early promotional materials and blueprints.

A Celebration of History

Seeing concept sketches of early EPCOT, commemorative souvenirs from the park’s grand opening in 1971, and original costumes from long-retired shows brought back nostalgia.
