A Pixar-Powered Race Weekend at Walt Disney World
From April 13–16, 2023, runners of all ages and abilities gathered at Walt Disney World Resort for the second annual runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend. This year’s theme celebrated the magic of Pixar and the power of friendship, featuring races inspired by beloved Pixar films. Participants were encouraged to embrace the spirit of camaraderie, whether running with friends, family, or making new pals along the course.

Race Lineup: Pixar-Themed Events
Disney Pixar Cars 5K
Racers revved their engines for a 3.1-mile course alongside Lightning McQueen, Mater, and friends. The race emphasized speed and fun, capturing the excitement of Radiator Springs

Disney Pixar Monsters 10K
Participants got their “scary feet” ready for a 6.2-mile journey through Monstropolis with Mike, Sulley, and the gang. Energy canisters at each mile marker filled up as runners progressed, adding a playful touch to the race.

Disney Pixar Toy Story 10 Miler
Runners embarked on a 10-mile adventure with Buzz, Woody, Bo Peep, and more. The course was filled with Toy Story-themed entertainment, making every mile a memorable experience.

runDisney Springtime Surprise Challenge
For those seeking an extra challenge, completing all three races earned them the coveted Nemo-themed medal. This 19.3-mile feat celebrated determination and the joy of running.

Virtual Races: Bringing the Magic Home
For fans unable to attend in person, runDisney offered virtual race options. Participants could complete the races on their own courses, earning the same themed medals and experiencing the camaraderie of the event from anywhere in the world

Weather Recap: Ideal Running Conditions
Orlando’s weather during the event weekend was favorable for runners. Temperatures ranged from the low 70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (21–29°C), with minimal precipitation, providing comfortable conditions for all race participants.
