A Splashy Start – Walt Disney World Inside Out Season 1, Episode 1
Before social media, Disney vlogs, or even YouTube, there was Walt Disney World Inside Out. This vintage gem of a show offered fans an inside look at all things Walt Disney World. The premiere episode, aired in June 1994, set the tone with a water-themed adventure fittingly titled “Get Wet.”
Hosted by the quirky and energetic Scott Herriot, Episode 1 kicks off with a wild challenge at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The goal? Ride the “wildest ride in the wilderness” while holding a mouthful of water. Spoiler: not many stayed dry.
From Magic Kingdom to Epcot ’94 to Disney MGM Studios
Next, we head over to Epcot ’94’s Morocco pavilion, where Scott steps onto the action-packed set of Thunder in Paradise, starring none other than Hulk Hogan. Hulk gives Scott a ride to Marrakech before heading off to sign autographs — classic ’90s Disney crossover energy.
Scott then pivots to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror construction site at Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios). At the time, the ride was still under wraps, offering fans a rare sneak peek at what would become one of the most iconic attractions in Disney history.
Splashtacular Fun, Living Seas, and Hidden Camera Hijinks
Back at Epcot ’94, Scott tries his luck with the interactive fountain, dodging jets of water and chatting with parkgoers about their odds of staying dry. From there, we’re introduced to the cast and creative team of the stage show Splashtacular, bringing a little musical flair to our aquatic theme.
Then it’s time for something educational — Scott visits The Living Seas, where marine biologist Conrad Litz explains the innovative dolphin keyboard project — one of Epcot’s many pioneering research programs.
The episode wraps up with a hidden camera segment where ‘Horgi,’ a tourist from Yensidklat (yes, that’s Disney Talk spelled backward), approaches cast members to ask — you guessed it — about watermelon shoes
