A Heroic New Chapter: Black Panther Wakanda Celebration Begins at Disneyland
With the arrival of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, the Disneyland Resort welcomed guests to celebrate Wakanda’s next chapter from November 11, 2022, through January 8, 2023. Disney California Adventure transformed into a cultural celebration of music, food, art, and Marvel storytelling.
New Experiences in Avengers Campus
Inside Avengers Campus, guests were invited to meet a new warrior assuming the Black Panther mantle. M’Baku, the Jabari Clan chieftain, made his heroic debut and led “The Way of the Jabari.” This live experience brought chants and percussion from his mountain tribe straight to California Adventure.
The Black Panther Celebration Garden
Just beyond the Collector’s Fortress, a tranquil tribute space called the Black Panther Celebration Garden honored the protectors of Wakanda. Guests could reflect and recharge while immersed in Wakandan-inspired art and storytelling.
Flavors of Wakanda Marketplace
Foodies found powerful fuel at the Flavors of Wakanda in the Hollywood Backlot. Signature items included:
- Peri-Peri Chicken with Jollof rice
- Butterfly Pea Tea Lemonade
- Dawa – a vodka, ginger beer, and lemonade cocktail
- Maafe – a peanut stew served with naan
Nearby at Shawarma Palace, guests could try the Wakandan Roasted Pork Wrap, featuring black garlic and chermoula sauce.
Collectibles and Costumes
In the Super Store Featuring Avengers Campus, fans discovered screen-used props and costumes from the film and an exclusive collection of Black Panther-themed merchandise.
One must-have item? Shuri’s Gauntlet—a collectible drinking vessel available at Flavors of Wakanda and Avengers Campus carts.
Art and Legacy in Downtown Disney
Guests also found a limited-time mural near the Star Wars Trading Post. Created by artist Nikkolas Smith, the piece celebrated Wakanda Forever and paid tribute to the legacy of King T’Challa.

This limited-time event celebrated culture, storytelling, and Black excellence with powerful experiences only Disney can offer. The Black Panther Wakanda Celebration ended on January 8, 2023, but the memories continue to inspire.
