The team at The Ganachery in Disney Springs crafted a Marvel-inspired delight, and the industry noticed. The Chocolate Thor Hammer, based on Marvel Studios‘ Thor: Love and Thunder, claimed IAAPA’s Brass Ring Award for Best New Menu Item.
Creating the Chocolate Thor Hammer Piñata
It began with Pastry Chef Chocolatier Amanda Lauder and her team brainstorming ideas to celebrate the film. “Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir, was the clear favorite,” Amanda said. “We wondered—could we make it a chocolate piñata?”
They ordered a replica online and cast it in gelatin, then formed a hard resin version. That stone mold became the template for the finished chocolate piece. With guidance from the Marvel team, they refined every detail until it was perfect.
Inside the chocolate shell are six dark chocolate treats, each bursting with Pop Rocks to surprise and delight. It’s a Marvel chocolate treat that fans can break open and share.
Ganachery’s Marvel Chocolate Treat Delivers a Sweet Victory
In July alone, The Ganachery sold nearly 4,000 Chocolate Thor Hammers to delighted guests.
“I could only create something this fun and detailed at Disney,” Amanda reflected.
Jim Greene, Food and Beverage General Manager, accepted the award with Amanda. “This recognition honors our cast members’ passion and creativity.”
The Ganachery Disney Springs team blended innovation, storytelling, and taste to craft this sweet tribute to Thor’s hammer—and now they’re industry champions.
