As Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway arrives at Disneyland Park, cast members are suiting up in an imaginative way. The new Runaway Railway cast costumes—developed by the Costume Design and Development team—are “trainsformable,” featuring reversible designs that allow cast members to adapt their outfits to match the ride’s shifting scenery.
Costume designer Yonit Olshan worked closely with animator Joseph Holt to bring these designs to life, ensuring the uniforms feel like an extension of the cartoon shorts that inspired the attraction.
“These aren’t just uniforms—they’re part of the show,” Olshan explained. “From color to silhouette, every detail supports the story.”
Reversible Costumes Reflect the Ride’s Style
The reversible nature of the Runaway Railway cast costumes mirrors the experience of the attraction itself, which rapidly transitions between different scenes. Cast members become visual storytellers, changing their look as guests move through the wacky animated world of Mickey and Minnie.
“The attraction transitions from one wacky setting to another, and our look mirrors that,” said Tyler Girdner, entertainment character host. “It really heightens the immersion.”
These reversible costumes include conductor-inspired vests, animation-style fabrics, and stylized hats—details that all enhance the Disney100 celebration.
