Marvel Studios’ smallest heroes are taking on their biggest challenge yet. Now playing in theaters, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania officially launches Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
A Journey into the Quantum Realm
The film transports viewers into a hidden dimension known as the Quantum Realm.
There, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Cassie Lang, Janet Van Dyne, and Dr. Hank Pym must face a threat unlike any before—Kang the Conqueror.
Kang was introduced as He Who Remains in Loki, but this version is far more dangerous.
This new Kang has the power of time on his side—and he plans to use it to conquer worlds far beyond the Quantum Realm.
Ant-Man’s Biggest Role Yet
Despite his size, Ant-Man has never played a bigger role.
“This movie is bigger in every way,” says Rudd. “To be the film that kicks off Phase 5 is fantastic.”
According to Director Peyton Reed, the story may be standalone—but its impact on the MCU is lasting. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige explains, “Phase 4 introduced new characters. Phase 5 needed familiar heroes to face a major threat.”
A Shift in Scale and Stakes
Historically, the Ant-Man films have focused on smaller stakes and family themes.
However, Quantumania flips that formula completely.
“We liked the idea of a different kind of movie,” says producer Stephen Broussard.
He adds that stories like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War reshaped the MCU. Now, Ant-Man steps into that same spotlight—defining what’s next.
Kang’s Future Is Limitless
Jonathan Majors, who plays Kang, will return in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025.
He’s excited to continue evolving the character.
“Please let me keep doing this,” Majors says. “I’m in love with the role and the people I work with.”
Kang’s importance is only growing.
Broussard notes he’ll take “center stage” in The Kang Dynasty, but Quantumania is where it all begins.
Looking Ahead
Ant-Man may be small, but in this story, he’s the turning point.
From Endgame to Civil War, he’s played a part in every major MCU event.
Now, he stands at the center of what’s next—proving once again that heroes come in all sizes.
