Mickey’s Toontown is reopening at Disneyland on March 19, 2023, and with it comes a fresh new look for the cast members who bring the land to life. As part of the reimagining, Disney unveiled the all-new Mickey’s Toontown costumes, and they’re full of personality and vibrant color.
A Colorful Cast of Characters
The new outfits draw inspiration from Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy. Each costume incorporates bold colors, playful patterns, and functional designs that make them both practical and stylish. The entire look reflects the land’s whimsical energy.

Cast Member Input Was Key
From the start, Disney’s Costume Design team worked closely with cast members to shape the final designs. The process included fittings, feedback sessions, and adjustments to ensure that comfort and mobility were top priorities.
“Having cast feedback and input from the beginning was critical and shaped a large part of the development of the costumes,” said Lynn Kaufman, costume designer. “It was a beautiful process; I’m looking forward to seeing how people react.”
Behind the Seams
The collaborative design journey—from concept sketches to the final threads—was all about honoring Toontown’s charm while meeting the real-world needs of Disneyland cast members. The result is a fresh take that blends function with fashion, honoring tradition while embracing innovation.

As excitement builds for the return of Mickey’s Toontown, these colorful costumes are just one of the many delightful touches fans can look forward to.
