The Magic is Calling! As Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary came to a close on March 31, 2023, guests enjoyed one final magical moment. The celebration, which began on October 1, 2021, featured special experiences across all four parks. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions at the start of the celebration, full parades were not possible, leading to the creation of the cavalcade concept.

The Birth of the Cavalcade Tradition
The Mickey and Friends Cavalcade emerged as a creative solution when Walt Disney World wasn’t ready for large gatherings. Unlike traditional parades, cavalcades featured small floats and characters passing by frequently, giving guests more opportunities to see their favorites. Even after the return of the Festival of Fantasy Parade, these shorter experiences remained popular for their spontaneity and charm.

The Magic is Calling – A Musical Farewell
This special edition of the Mickey and Friends Cavalcade features “The Magic is Calling,” the official musical theme of the 50th anniversary. Guests were treated to a final performance of this inspiring song, marking the end of a historic celebration. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and Daisy appeared in their shimmering 50th-anniversary costumes, adding extra sparkle to the moment.

Mickey and Friends in Celebration Style
Dressed in EARidescent costumes designed for the anniversary, Mickey and Friends delighted guests as they waved from the iconic float. The performance served as a reminder of the joy and memories created during the 18-month-long celebration. Their final appearance during this cavalcade highlighted how Disney magic continues to evolve while honoring its legacy.
