The words “the story comes alive” echo again through Magic Kingdom Park, as Happily Ever After returns. But for the team of Disney Live Entertainment artists behind the scenes, those words aren’t just lyrics—they’re a mission.
The Artists Behind the Magic
Over 50 digital artists and animators came together to refresh Happily Ever After with updated projections and enhanced storytelling. For Creative Producer Katrina Mena Rick, it was a dream come true.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine working on a show as iconic and beloved as Happily Ever After,” Katrina said. “Looking at the show with fresh eyes and using today’s technology made it even more exciting.”
New projection mapping now transforms 25 buildings along Main Street, U.S.A., each one acting as a unique canvas for Disney storytelling.

Animation Runs in the Family
One of the most touching contributions came from lead Disney show animators Ana Beltran. She had the unique opportunity to animate alongside her father.
“I grew up watching my dad’s passion for animation,” Ana said. “We often joked about making magic as a family business. Now, we’ve made that dream a reality.”
Their collaboration brought extra heart to the show’s animation, adding a personal layer to the visual storytelling.

Representation in Every Frame
Illustrator J.P. Perez added his touch to the new stained-glass portraits lining Main Street. “My favorite to create was Meilin from Turning Red,” J.P. said. “Her story feels so relatable to me.”
Characters like Miguel, Mirabel, Luca, Elena, and Rapunzel were added so guests could see themselves reflected in the show.

Alongside Meilin, the team added Miguel, Mirabel, Luca, Elena, and other characters to ensure guests could find someone to relate to during the performance.
Where Dreams Take Flight with the Magic Kingdom fireworks team
From the moment the show begins, the projections unfold like a visual symphony—dancing across buildings, pulling you into familiar Disney stories, and always leading your eyes back to Cinderella Castle. And in a shimmering finale, as Tinker Bell soars into the night sky, the collective work of these artists reminds us: Disney cast members are the magic makers who bring our favorite stories to life.
