Starting September 28, 2023, guests visiting The Villas at Disneyland Hotel will be welcomed by an incredible mural created by Lorelay Bové, associate production designer for Disney Animation’s Encanto. This exclusive mural features hidden Mickeys and beloved scenes from Walt Disney Animation Studios films.
A Tribute to Disney Animation
Bové, a Disney Animation veteran, designed the mural to celebrate Disney’s storytelling legacy. Her work includes contributions to The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Big Hero 6, and Zootopia. She also illustrated several Disney Little Golden Books and has exhibited art globally.
Creating the Mural
Bové shared her creative process: “The mural celebrates Disney Animation in one image. I wanted each character in their world, letting guests explore each vignette.” She added iconic elements like Sorcerer Mickey on a mountain from Fantasia and flying characters such as Baymax and Sisu.
The artwork also includes a sunset across the sky to unify the colors and scenes. Bové revealed, “There are hidden Mickeys scattered throughout the mural for guests to find!”
Bringing Magic to The Villas at Disneyland Hotel
Inspired by Disney Animation’s creative journey, the mural captures moments from The Lion King, Frozen, Encanto, and more. “It was a joy to revisit each film and celebrate both past and present stories,” Bové shared.
For Bové, contributing to The Villas at Disneyland Hotel is a dream come true. “It’s not work—it’s my passion,” she said.
