Disney Treasure with Our Cast & Crew’s Insight

At Disney Cruise Line, we love a good milestone, and if you’ve been following along, you know the sixth ship in the fleet, the Disney Treasure, recently had its grand reveal.

Over 10,000 cast and crew found their spirit of adventure by land and sea. They were transported via treasure map into “Unlocking The Disney Treasure: Adventure Awaits Onboard Disney’s Newest Ship.”

From bow to stern, there are so many layers to launching a new ship, and our cast and crew members are the magic that brings it to life. We explored the uncharted courses of the new ship and learned more about the daring tales of classic Disney films and Disney park attractions that will inspire each space on board.

James Connors-Morrison, cruise sales and services manager, said the most exciting part is that as the Disney Cruise Line fleet grows, cast and crew get to share it with the world.

“We have this ship coming and another one after that. There’s just so much expansion. We’re going to be able to share this wonderful experience with so many more people,” James said. “I just love being part of that.”

And because no explorer can set off on an adventure without a delectable meal, the Disney Treasure will feature three immersive and imaginative restaurants. If you’ve ever cruised before, you know it’s a foodie paradise, and for executive secretary Brandi Crenshaw, food is at the top of her list.

“I’m definitely looking forward to the treats,” Brandi said. “As a guest, I love all of our restaurants and the excitement surrounded by the different eating locations, and of course the merchandise.”

Christian Cruz, trip manager for Adventures by Disney, is most excited about theming elements, including several Disney parks-inspired venues as well as movie tie-ins. From Captain Hook and Peter Pan featured on the stern of the ship, to Skipper Society, which will draw on Jungle Cruise attractions from around the world, there are adventures for every explorer.

We enjoyed an immersive view of some onboard spaces through virtual reality goggles. These computer-generated renderings brought cast into the realm of the Periscope Pub, inspired by the spellbinding adventure of Walt Disney’s 1954 film and the legacy Disney Parks attraction, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” a “Coco”-themed theatrical dining experience featuring the flavors of Mexico and the Disney Treasure Grand Hall.

“I’ve never done VR before, so that was really cool. It felt like I was there,” Christian said. “One day, I’ll enter that hall. I’ll be able to see it myself and take a photo with Aladdin and Jasmine.”

There’s so much more to come, and while a treasure map is always welcome as we chart our course, all we need to make memories along this voyage is each other.

We can’t wait to share this ship with the world so you can make your own treasured memories. Stay tuned on the Disney Parks Blog for construction updates and milestones.
