Behind the Attractions Season 2: Exclusive Interview with Director Brian Volk-Weiss

Just in time for a deep dive into Disney history, “Behind the AttractionsSeason 2 premieres November 1, 2023, exclusively on Disney+—and this season, the stories go even deeper. I had the opportunity to sit down with series director Brian Volk-Weiss for an exclusive interview, where we discussed how the attractions were chosen, what filming was like, and yes, whether he got to visit the Flavor Lab.

What’s New in Season 2?

The new season brings viewers behind the scenes of six Disney attractions and experiences:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Discover how this wax museum concept evolved into one of the most iconic rides ever built, spawning a global franchise.

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: Ride through the American West, the goat trick, and Phantom Manor connections in this fan-favorite coaster.

  • Indiana Jones Adventure: From Disneyland to Tokyo DisneySea, see how this Lucasfilm-Disney collaboration came to life.

  • EPCOT: Explore Walt’s experimental dream and how it’s evolved with attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

  • The Food: Because food IS an attraction! Get the backstory on churros, Dole Whip, and what really happens in the Flavor Lab.

  • Nighttime Spectaculars: A look at the fireworks, projections, drones, and magic that light up Disney Parks every night.

Exclusive Insights from Director Brian Volk-Weiss

In our interview, I asked Brian how the Season 2 lineup came to be. “There were so many great options,” he said, “but we wanted a mix of classic rides, newer attractions, and something totally unexpected like food.” That something unexpected turned out to be one of the most memorable segments for Brian—getting a peek inside the Flavor Lab at Walt Disney World. “It was incredible,” he admitted. “The innovation happening there is just as cool as any roller coaster.”

When asked about a possible Season 3, Brian smiled knowingly and said, “I think fans will be very happy with what’s next—but for now, there’s a lot to enjoy in Season 2.”

Why This Series Matters

From celebrating Walt’s vision to showcasing the innovation of today’s Imagineers.  “Behind the Attractions” continues to spotlight what makes Disney Parks unforgettable. Whether you’re a theme park fanatic or just want to know how churros became a Disney staple, this season has something for you.
