Walt Disney always said, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” That legacy lives on today, thanks to the Disneyland Resort cast members who continue to bring magic to life every day. During the Disney100 Celebration, those very cast members were honored with a one-of-a-kind, 23-hour celebration marking The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary on October 16, 2023.
From sunrise to sunrise, Disneyland Resort cast members enjoyed exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences designed just for them. Activities included speed puzzling competitions, Disney100-themed movie screenings, and even dunk tanks set up around the resort. And while the event was full of fun, it also had heart.
A Splash for a Cause
Cast members took aim at dunk tanks, and every successful dunk meant $5 donated to Make-A-Wish. Disneyland Resort pledged up to $5,000. Disney Ambassador Mark Everett King Jr. volunteered and got soaked over 20 times by fellow cast members.
“What better way to support an amazing cause during a momentous moment in our company’s history?” said King.
Honoring the People Behind the Magic
For cast members like Stacey Cheong of Marketing Strategy, the celebration held deeper meaning. “It’s been so fun and amazing to celebrate the 100th year of The Walt Disney Company. Knowing the money is going toward a great cause is also an extra bonus,” she shared after dunking King.
Following tradition, cast members also posed for a commemorative group photo. These group portraits are a Disneyland Resort tradition that honors teamwork and celebrates milestone moments.
A Celebration Worth Remembering
The Disney100 Celebration marked a century of creativity, joy, and innovation. More importantly, it recognized the dedicated cast members who create those magical moments. With fun, philanthropy, and community, the event was a heartfelt thank-you to the people who bring Walt’s dream to life every day.
