Disney Plus December Releases: Indiana Jones, Doctor Who & Holiday Favorites

December is arriving, and with it comes an exciting lineup of new Disney+ releases and festive TV specials. Whether you are looking for adventure through space and time or a holiday classic, Disney+ and Disney Channel have something special in store.

Here is what to watch this weekend.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Streaming Friday, December 1 | Disney+

Harrison Ford returns as Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, available on Disney+ this Friday. Set in 1969, the film follows Indy as he prepares for retirement after years of teaching at Hunter College. However, his plans take a turn when his estranged goddaughter, Helena, shows up in search of the Archimedes Dial—an artifact rumored to have the power to find fissures in time. The adventure takes him across the globe in a high-stakes race against dangerous forces.

Alongside the film, Disney+ is also releasing Timeless Heroes, a new documentary directed by Laurent Bouzereau. This feature dives into the legacy of Indiana Jones, offering behind-the-scenes insights and never-before-seen footage.

A promotional image for Disney Channel’s The Villains of Valley View features Isabella Pappas as Havoc/Amy, Lucy Davis as Eva/Surge, James Patrick Stuart as Vic/Kraniac, Malachi Barton as Colby/Flashform, Reed Horstmann as Jake/Chaos, and Kayden Muller-Janssen as Hartley. They are standing on a set that features furniture coming out of the floor at odd angles, as if from another dimension. Everyone except Muller-Janssen is wearing typical “villains”-style outfits—colorful spandex suits, masks, and the like.

The Villains of Valley View

Friday, December 1 | 9 p.m. ET/PT | Disney Channel

The holiday season has arrived in Valley View, but for the Madden family, celebrating Christmas is anything but ordinary. In this special holiday episode, Amy and Jake set out to find their most-wanted Christmas gift, only to learn an important lesson about the true meaning of the season. Expect heartwarming moments, comedic chaos, and festive fun.

In an image from the 60th anniversary specials for BBC’s Doctor Who on Disney+, the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) is leaning against one of the hallways in the TARDIS, with a serious look on his face. He’s wearing his signature trench coat, tie, and Chuck Taylor sneakers.

Doctor Who: Wild Blue Yonder

Streaming Saturday, December 2 | Disney+

The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials continue with Wild Blue Yonder, the second of three new episodes. This special follows David Tennant’s Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble as they embark on another intergalactic adventure.

The details of the episode remain under wraps, but fans know it all begins with a spilled cup of coffee—an incident that sets off a chain reaction leading to a thrilling journey through time and space. If you are a newcomer to the Doctor Who universe, now is the perfect time to jump in.

In an image from 1994’s The Santa Clause, a little girl stands on a park bench staring at Scott Calvin (Disney Legend Tim Allen), who has the unmistakable appearance of Santa Clause. Scott—who, for his part, is trying to ignore the little girl—is wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and blue pants.

Sunday, December 3 | 8 p.m. ET/PT | ABC

Relive the holiday magic with The Santa Clause, the 1994 classic that started it all. Tim Allen stars as Scott Calvin, a divorced toy company executive who unexpectedly takes on the role of Santa Claus. Initially reluctant, Scott embraces the responsibility with the help of his son, Charlie.

If you enjoy this holiday favorite, you can continue the story with The Santa Clauses, now streaming on Disney+.

In an image from ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight, host/judge Carter Oosterhouse stands outside one of the houses being judged on Sunday’s episode. He stands to the left of the family, who are all wearing reindeer onesies; Oosterhouse is wearing a blue jacket and gray pants. Plentiful sparking Christmas lights are attached to the house and the garage doors seen behind them.

The Great Christmas Light Fight

Sunday, December 3 | 10 p.m. ET/PT | ABC

The holiday lights are brighter than ever as Season 11 of The Great Christmas Light Fight continues. This week, the Hazard, Ward, Cirlin, and Greene families compete for the grand prize of $50,000 and the coveted Light Fight trophy. Host Carter Oosterhouse will judge some of the most extravagant holiday displays, featuring dazzling lights and over-the-top decorations.
