Behind the Attraction Season 2 Now Streaming: A Deep Dive into Disney Parks Magic

From a swashbuckling adventure on the seas to an ever-evolving theme park where the impossible becomes possible, Behind the Attraction continues to live up to its name in Season 2, now streaming on Disney+. From executive producers Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Brian Volk-Weiss, the series pulls back the curtain on iconic Disney Parks attractions, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Indiana Jones Adventure, EPCOTโ€”and even the beloved food and nighttime spectaculars that round out the guest experience.

โ€œThe power that we have to build things that guests can only dream of or imagine is so humbling,โ€ says Jeanette Lomboy, Executive Producer of Creative Ideation at Walt Disney Imagineering. โ€œAll of that together creates the magic. Thatโ€™s what dreams are made of.โ€

Disney Classics Reimagined

Season 2 tells the behind-the-scenes story of Pirates of the Caribbeanโ€”from Waltโ€™s original wax museum idea to its evolution into an Audio-Animatronicsยฎ marvel that would spark a global franchise. For Jeanette Lomboy, growing up near Disneyland made the attraction feel like part of her childhood. โ€œThe pirates are alive and in front of you! It blew my mind as a little girl.โ€

Senior Creative Executive Luc Mayrand shares how those memories shaped the Shanghai Disney Resortโ€™s Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, a fully reimagined take on the classic attraction. โ€œIf Walt was doing this today, what would he want to do?โ€ Mayrand recalls asking himself. The answer? Push the boundaries of storytelling.

The Living Park Philosophy

Lomboy reminds viewers that Disneyland was always meant to evolve. โ€œThere are Imagineers at each park whose sole job is to maintain, update, and add to the opening-day story,โ€ she explains. That mindset applies to everythingโ€”from thrilling coasters to the most delicious DOLE Whip.

Food Is an Attraction, Too

Brian Piasecki, Culinary Director at Walt Disney World, and Gary Maggetti, Food and Beverage Director at Disney California Adventure, agree: food is now a main draw. โ€œPeople actually come for the food,โ€ says Maggetti. Viewers get a rare look inside the Flavor Lab, where chefs and Imagineers collaborate to extend storytelling through dining.

From churros to blue milk, food at Disney is no afterthought. โ€œItโ€™s got to be delicious,โ€ Maggetti emphasizes. โ€œItโ€™s about experiential food and beverage in every possible area.โ€

Streaming Now on Disney+

Volk-Weiss hopes fans enjoy the ride. โ€œOne of the great things about making a show like this is you get to go to all the parks in five weeks,โ€ he says. โ€œI got to ride Big Thunder in Anaheim on Tuesdayโ€”and Orlando on Wednesday.โ€

Watch Behind the Attraction Season 2 now on Disney+ and experience the creative spark that brings the magic to life.
