A New Holiday Comedy Streaming Now
Dashing Through the Snow, Disney+’s newest original holiday comedy, premieres today! The film follows Eddie Garrick (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges), an Atlanta social worker who’s long given up on Christmas cheer. But when his estranged daughter Charlotte (Madison Skye Validum) joins him on Christmas Eve—and they meet a mysterious man named Nick (Lil Rel Howery)—Eddie’s outlook begins to change.
A Fun and Festive Dynamic
Producer Will Packer says the story is a balance of humor and heart. “Eddie is the lovable curmudgeon who doesn’t believe in Christmas… Nick is all about the holiday spirit. It’s a fun dynamic to play with,” he shared with D23.
Behind the Mistletoe Mayhem
This is Packer’s first Christmas movie, and he found the holidays to be a perfect setting: “There’s nothing more magical—or more chaotic—than family at Christmastime.”
The film’s antagonist, Congressman Harf (Oscar Nuñez), is a greedy, goofy villain who brings both chaos and comedy. Packer says the character was fun to develop: “He’s not twirling his mustache—he’s just a grown-up who never got the toy he wanted.”
Representation Matters
Packer emphasized the importance of portraying Santa Claus, aka Nick, as a Black man. “Santa looks different around the world. We want kids to see themselves on screen,” he said. “It’s about reflecting the real world.”
A Message for the Season
More than just laughs, Dashing Through the Snow delivers a heartfelt reminder: the holidays are about love and connection, not just gifts. “Eddie rediscovers the spirit of Christmas,” says Packer. “And each of us has that inside—we just have to unlock it.”
