To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, Hulu and acclaimed Anishinaabe artist Blake Angeconeb have partnered to honor the groundbreaking FX series Reservation Dogs with a powerful new mural installation. This original artwork, “Young Warriorz,” will be displayed at the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City from November 6 through December 4, 2023.

Honoring a Trailblazing Series
Reservation Dogs made history as the first scripted television series with an entirely Indigenous team of writers, directors, and lead actors. Created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, the show broke barriers and connected deeply with Indigenous communities around the world. It filmed entirely in Oklahoma, making the museum installation especially meaningful.
Blake Angeconeb portrays the spirit and growth of the series’ four central characters—Bear, Elora, Willie Jack, and Cheese—through their depiction as Thunderbirds, powerful beings symbolizing strength and protection. Their late friend Daniel watches over them from above, and the design combines traditional Anishinaabe woodland art with a contemporary style.
