A Disney Dream Comes to Life in Rancho Mirage
Disney has unveiled a first look at the home designs for Cotino, the first-ever Storyliving by Disney community in Rancho Mirage, California. As pre-sales open, prospective homeowners can explore the creative details and design inspirations behind this unique neighborhood.
Developed in collaboration with DMB Development and guided by Walt Disney Imagineering, Cotino brings Disney’s legacy of immersive storytelling into residential living. Set against the stunning San Jacinto mountains, the community blends natural beauty, innovative architecture, and Disney magic.
Inspired by Walt Disney’s Love of Coachella Valley
Cotino is deeply rooted in Walt and Lillian Disney’s connection to the region. “It seems fitting that Cotino would have a similar setting as the one that Walt loved so much,” said Becky Cline, Walt Disney Archives Director. Walt often sought inspiration and relaxation in Palm Springs, and Cotino aims to channel that same spirit for future residents.
Home Designs from Shea Homes
Shea Homes will build the first residences, offering floorplans exclusive to Cotino. Each layout is designed to fit modern lifestyles while embracing the charm of the Coachella Valley. Open kitchens, spacious dining areas, and indoor-outdoor living spaces foster connection, comfort, and flexibility.
Homes fall into four distinct design collections: Coachella, Agrarian, Oasis, and Aspirion. Each style reflects different aspects of Palm Springs’ legacy—from its agricultural past to mid-century modern influences—enhanced by Disney Imagineering’s aesthetic vision.
Enriching Amenities with a Disney Touch
Residents can join the Artisan Club, which includes exclusive access to Disney-infused amenities and programming. This includes a waterfront bar, restaurant, pickleball and tennis courts, and a pool along the shores of Cotino Bay—featuring clear turquoise water with Crystal Lagoons® technology.
A standout feature is the Parr House, a multi-functional event space inspired by the iconic home in Pixar’s Incredibles 2. The club will host storytelling dinners, art lessons from Disney artists, and family-friendly activities designed for lifelong learning and fun.
Next Steps for Future Residents
Pre-sales appointments are now available for a limited number of Shea Homes properties in Cotino. Additional homesites and builders will be added in future phases. For more details or to schedule an appointment, visit the official Story of Cotino website.
As the first Storyliving by Disney neighborhood in the U.S., Cotino is just the beginning. Future communities are in early planning stages and will reflect the character, history, and culture of their locations—with Disney Imagineering guiding each magical step.
