Celebrating 55 Years of Magic: Honoring Disneyland Resort Cast Members

The story of Disneyland 55-year cast members George Montano and Louie Montero began in 1968, when they first pinned on their Disneyland Resort nametags. Little did they know they were starting an extraordinary journey that would span over five magical decades. Now, in 2023, they are being recognized for their exceptional Disney cast member milestone.

A Legacy of Creativity and Craftsmanship

Throughout their 55-year cast member tribute, George and Louie contributed their skills in the plaster shop to projects that shaped Disney parks around the world. From Fantasyland’s expansion in the 1980s to assisting with Jungle Cruise animatronics at Walt Disney World, their craftsmanship became foundational. George even traveled to Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland, while Louie brought his talents to iconic attractions like Country Bear Jamboree, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and “it’s a small world.”

A Golden Celebration on Main Street, U.S.A.

To honor the Disneyland service anniversary of these legends, nine cast members—including George and Louie—were celebrated with a ceremony inside the Golden Horseshoe. Each honoree received a bronze statue marking their milestone and joined a celebratory cavalcade down Main Street, U.S.A., greeted by applause from fellow Disneyland 55-year cast members and current cast.

A Family Affair That Spans Generations

For these Disneyland 55-year cast members, working at the resort is truly a family affair. George followed in the footsteps of his father and brother, who helped construct “it’s a small world.” Today, Louie works alongside his sons, Joel and Mike Montero, bringing the family’s combined Disney cast member milestone to an incredible 130 years.

Continuing the Disney Magic

George remembers his first Disneyland visit in 1955 as a 10-year-old.  And now he takes pride in sharing the park with his family. Louie, meanwhile, continues to innovate in ride vehicle workshops, using new materials and methods. Their journey as Disneyland 55-year cast members is a lasting reminder.  Of how creativity and dedication can bring Disney magic to life.

Congratulations to all the honorees of 2023! Your Disneyland service anniversary is a beacon of inspiration for fans and cast members alike.
