Disney Cruise Line recently opened a new terminal at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. This exciting milestone marks a major step in the company’s ongoing expansion. To celebrate, Disney Cruise Line announced new investments in community programs that support young people in Broward County.
Supporting the Next Generation
With the launch of its second year-round homeport in Florida, Disney is also deepening its commitment to the local community. New donations will benefit Junior Achievement South Florida and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. These funds will fuel programs that focus on career exploration, creativity, and skill-building for youth across the region.
“The grand opening of our new dedicated terminal is an incredible milestone,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line. “Now our guests have even more options to experience the magic of a Disney vacation at sea.”
Siskie added,
“We’re proud to continue investing in local youth programs. Our goal is to empower and inspire the next generation of dreamers in Broward County.”
Career Training and Mentorship
Disney’s donation to Junior Achievement of South Florida will help expand both the JA Career Bound and JA Pre-Apprenticeship programs. One focus area is a marine service technician track, which introduces students to the maritime industry and engine basics.
“This support is not just financial—it’s an investment in the next generation,” said Laurie Sallarulo, president and CEO of Junior Achievement South Florida.
At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, Disney’s support will strengthen youth-focused programs like Youth of the Year, which promotes leadership and achievement among young people.
“Disney Cruise Line’s commitment supports our mission to empower and uplift our youth,” said Chris Gentile, co-CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
Disney Crew Giving Back
The collaboration doesn’t stop at donations. Disney Cruise Line cast and crew will volunteer as mentors, engage with students, and take part in local events. These efforts bring Disney magic beyond the ships and into the community.
The Disney Dream set sail from Port Everglades on November 20, and the Disney Magic will follow on May 9, 2024. These sailings are part of the largest expansion in Disney Cruise Line history.
