Seventeen-year-old Dominic from Singapore lives with a rare and severe blood disorder. Diagnosed at just seven years old, Dominic faces frequent injuries and chronic pain, yet remains determined and resilient. During treatment, he discovered The Imagineering Story on Disney+ and became fascinated by how Disney Imagineers blend robotics, design, and engineering to bring Disney Parks to life.
Dominic’s wish? To visit World of Frozen, meet the Imagineers behind it, and learn the secrets of how the land was built. That wish led him to Hong Kong Disneyland last week for an unforgettable experience.
A Behind-the-Scenes Tour with Disney Imagineers
Thanks to the Walt Disney Imagineering Hong Kong team, Dominic received a personalized tour of Frozen Ever After, the groundbreaking attraction using state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics. Imagineers Jo Phoa and Angus Chan shared the technical and creative processes behind the ride, inspiring Dominic to follow his passion for robotics and design.
Jo Phoa, who is also from Singapore, described the moment as a full-circle experience: “This is my first time being part of a wish, and it’s been incredibly heartwarming. I’ll forever cherish this magical moment.”
More Than Just a Wish
Dominic wasn’t alone. He joined ten other children with critical illnesses from across Asia for a first-of-its-kind Frozen wish-granting event at the park. Each child had a chance to explore Arendelle and meet characters, enjoy the attractions, and experience the joy of dreams fulfilled.
The Impact of Imagineering Wishes
For more than 40 years, Disney has partnered with Make-A-Wish to grant over 150,000 wishes. From meeting favorite characters to becoming Imagineers for a day, each wish is as unique as the children who make them.
Dominic’s answer when asked if he wants to be an Imagineer one day? A heartfelt and enthusiastic “Yes!”
