Marvel Studios’ What If…? returns for a second season on Friday, December 22, exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu. Once again, The Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) guides us through the Marvel Multiverse, where stories take unexpected turns. This time, fans can look forward to nine straight nights of brand-new episodes.
What If Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?
Season 2 kicks off with “What If… Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?” featuring Karen Gillan voicing a new take on the former assassin. Seth Green returns as Howard the Duck in an expanded role, providing some comic relief on Xandar.
Iron Man’s “Lost Episode” Finally Arrives
On Christmas Day, fans will finally get the previously delayed “What If… Iron Man Crashed into the Grandmaster?” episode. Originally slated for Season 1, this episode faced delays during the pandemic but is now ready to premiere.
An ’80s Avengers Lineup and Happy Hogan’s Holiday
One episode is set in the 1980s: “What If… Peter Quill Attacks Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?” will feature familiar MCU characters in a retro setting. Kurt Russell returns as Ego, while Michael Douglas reprises his role as Hank Pym. On December 24, What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas? brings a holiday adventure starring Jon Favreau in a leading role he jokingly requested after Season 1.
Captain Carter and The Watcher Share a Connection
Writers teased that while What If…? is an anthology, a deeper connection remains between The Watcher and Captain Carter. Their individual arcs continue to mirror one another, with Season 2 diving deeper into their choices and consequences.
More Characters, More Possibilities
The new season also expands on lesser-known characters, introduces fresh team-ups, and continues exploring alternate realities within the MCU. Each episode offers new twists, questions, and imaginative outcomes that fans won’t want to miss.
Stream all nine episodes of What If Season 2 starting December 22 on Disney+ and Hulu. New episodes will release nightly through December 30.
