Disney Theatrical Group has announced a newly reimagined North American tour of Beauty and the Beast, launching in June 2025. This updated production will revisit the beloved musical with refreshed storytelling and dazzling spectacle.
Thomas Schumacher, Chief Creative Officer of Disney Theatrical Group, shared, “This Beauty is for longtime fans and an entirely new generation.”

A Legendary Production Returns
Based on Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated feature, Beauty and the Beast is one of the most celebrated stage musicals of the past 50 years. The original Broadway production ran for 13 years and reached audiences in 37 countries, entertaining over 25 million people.
The tour will begin with technical rehearsals and a premiere in Schenectady, New York. It will officially open at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago, followed by a summer stop in Minneapolis. Additional dates and casting will be announced later.
The Original Creative Team Reunites
Many original Tony Award-winning team members are returning for this refreshed version. Composer Alan Menken, lyricists Tim Rice and Howard Ashman, and book writer Linda Woolverton are all involved. Director and choreographer Matt West also rejoins the production. Design elements are being reimagined by scenic designer Stanley A. Meyer, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, and lighting designer Natasha Katz.
Executive Producer Anne Quart noted, “This team is rediscovering and expanding Beauty and the Beast with the original charm and romance, along with a fresh resonance for today’s audiences.”
No Broadway Plans, But Nationwide Magic
While a Broadway run is not planned, this new production will embark on a two-year North American tour. Fans across the continent will experience the timeless magic of Beauty and the Beast live on stage.
The tour builds on the current success of the Australian run, which stars Shubshri Kandiah as Belle and Brendan Xavier as Beast.
Stay tuned for more updates—and prepare to be their guest when the tour begins in 2025!
