Before jumping into the weekend, we wanted to remind you – in a special Disney way – that daylight Saving Time starts at 2 a.m., EST this Sunday.
For the occasion, we went back into our archives to spring forward with a few timeless Disney clock photos that do a perfect job of ushering in the return of brighter afternoons and evenings!
In 1970, Mickey Mouse happily grabbed a ladder with some friends and changed the clock for Daylight Saving Time on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park. Look closely at this rare image and you’ll notice Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck and other friends with some perfect timing.
Sunday’s time change shifts more daylight into the evening hours, making sunset about an hour later.
Back in 1971, Alice and White Rabbit were thrilled to remind Disney fans about time and not to be late for a very important date with the help of a giant Mickey Mouse alarm clock at Magic Kingdom Park.
And as we shared years ago in our Making of Disneyland series, construction of the park was well underway by the time the Main Entrance turnstiles were built. You’ll notice an outstandingly beautiful clock in the background ready to let guests of the future know the exact time.
