Our friends at D23 just shared exciting news about the Disney Destiny cruise ship, the latest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Earlier today, the ship reached a major construction milestone with a keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany—a time-honored maritime tradition meant to bestow good luck on the vessel.
With this ceremony complete, Disney’s ship of legends and lore is officially beginning to take shape.
Heroes and Villains Set the Stage
The Disney Destiny cruise ship will join her sister ships, the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, but with a twist that makes her truly one-of-a-kind. Her unique design theme, “Heroes and Villains,” draws from the legacy of iconic Disney characters and stories to create immersive experiences at sea.
Inspired by the duality at the heart of every Disney tale—light versus dark—the ship’s spaces and entertainment offerings will reflect this dynamic. Guests will encounter both heroes and villains from beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios films like The Lion King, Hercules, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
Minnie Mouse Leads the Way
Continuing a beloved Disney Cruise Line tradition, Disney unveiled the filigree bow artwork for the Disney Destiny. This new illustration features Minnie Mouse in a powerful pose, wearing a heroic new outfit complete with a cape that flows in the sea breeze. She’s ready to lead guests into their own unforgettable cruise adventures.
More Disney Magic on the Horizon
“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters,”. Said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line. “These stories will come to life in new and exciting ways made exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests.”

Coming in 2025
The Disney Destiny is scheduled for delivery in 2025. This marks a major step in the ongoing expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The growing fleet also includes the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Adventure, which will homeport in Singapore. Another exciting addition is Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, a brand-new island destination in The Bahamas.
