A new sculpture is taking shape behind the scenes at Walt Disney World Resort, destined for the Haunted Mansion Parlor aboard the Disney Treasure. This special bust pays tribute to none other than Disney Legend Rolly Crump, one of the original creative forces behind the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.

A Legendary Imagineer Immortalized
Roland “Rolly” Crump earned his nickname from Walt Disney himself. As a pioneering Imagineer, Crump contributed his whimsical and sometimes delightfully eerie style to many classic attractions. Most notably, he helped shape the Haunted Mansion with imaginative ideas that pushed boundaries and celebrated the strange and fantastical.
Now, more than sixty years later, his legacy sails forward aboard the Disney Treasure. The new Haunted Mansion Parlor—the first lounge at sea inspired by the iconic Disney Parks attraction—will feature a sculpted memorial bust in his image.
A Museum of the Weird Come to Life
The inspiration for this tribute comes directly from Crump’s own creative concepts. One of his most unusual contributions to the original Haunted Mansion was his proposed “Museum of the Weird.” This was a collection of oddities meant to intrigue and delight guests.
In that spirit, the memorial bust features candle wax-like drips cascading down the side of his face. It’s a nod to Crump’s idea of a melting figure. The plaque beneath the bust reads: “BROTHER ROLAND – FOREVER REVERED FOR EMBRACING THE WEIRD.”
This imaginative homage reflects the soul of the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Crump’s signature humor and inventiveness will live on for new generations of adventurers to enjoy.

Continuing the Haunted Mansion Legacy
As the Disney Treasure prepares to set sail in December 2024, it brings with it not only new stories but also new tributes to Disney history. From the 999 happy haunts to the unique atmosphere of the Parlor itself, every detail honors the past while embracing new adventures.
Crump’s bust will serve as a focal point of the Haunted Mansion Parlor. It will be a place where Disney Cruise Line guests can raise a glass and toast the pioneers who dared to dream weird.
